We can unblock all drainage including kitchen, bathrooms, toilets and more. We are fast, reliable and have all the equipment to keep your drains running freely.
Storm Water Drains
All of our plumbers have access to the latest in drain diagnostic technology and drain cleaning machinery, and have been provided with extensive training.
In the first instance, our plumber will always attempt to repair a damaged drain if this is a viable option. However, blocked storm water drains or blocked sewer drains may have irreparable damage caused by tree roots, shifting earth or other debris. We may need to recommend that you have the affected drain excavated and replaced if the damaged caused is far too great to justify a repair.
If the repair is unsuccessful or the drain has sagged, cracked or collapsed completely, your attending blocked drain professional will be able to excavate and replace the problematic section of drain, giving you the most durable, reliable and cost effective solution.
A conventional electric eel drain machine is not always suitable for this application. The hydro jet is usually the best drain cleaner for this situation. It uses high pressure water and will remove any stubborn blockage along with any dirt, leaves or silt from the storm water pipes.
Electric Drain Cleaning
Mac’s Plumbing and Pipelines have electric drain cleaners/eels which are best for unblocking most domestic drains. These machines are commonly used for clearing toilet blockages or blocked sewer drains.
Electric eels are ideal for cutting out larger tree roots as they have the strength of a motor pushing a cable with a sharp cutter on it, which often easily cuts and removes large roots. However, if the drain is too long, Mac’s Plumbing and Pipelines can use hydro-jets which have double the reach of electric machines.
Hydro-Jet Drain Cleaning
Hydro-jets, or jetters as they are also known, are extremely effective at clearing both sewer and storm water drains. They are also great for clearing grease blockages in drains and can cut out and remove tree roots.
We use trailer mounted hydro-jet units which run at a pressure of 5000 psi (strong enough to cut off a finger). Hydro-jets pump high pressure water out of the end of a small nozzle attached to a hose which is placed into the drain. It self-propels itself along the pipe, blasting through any obstacles in its way, such as stubborn tree roots.
Hydro-jets can reach blockages that are further along the pipes, where a conventional electric eel drain cleaner can’t reach. This often saves on costly excavation methods. The drain can be cleared without an inspection point having to be excavated. (an electric eel machine would require access closer to the blockage)
We regularly use jetters to clear kitchen sinks, especially when they are full of grease. The hydro-jet easily cuts through the grease and fats to allow the pipe to flow freely again. It is especially efficient at cleaning sinks and drains in commercial properties where thick build ups often occur.
The hydro-jet cleans stubborn drain blockages far more effectively than electric eel drain machines and is often used for more serious blockages.
Sewer Drain Camera
We have a drain camera, or CCTV camera as they are known in the industry, which can be placed down your drain pipe to see what is causing your blocked drains. The drain camera clearly identifies the cause of the blockage and any damage that may have occurred to the pipe as a result of the blockage. This allows the attending plumber to determine the exact location of the blockage and decide on the most efficient clearing method, saving you time and money.
Tree roots are the most common cause of blocked drains. They penetrate into the pipes and soon grow into a large mass. By using the CCTV camera, we can also identify collapsed or misaligned pipes and foreign objects. In some cases, drain problems can be ongoing and require further assistance, this is where one of our CCTV drain cameras can help! Our sewer drain cameras will pin point the source of the problem, as shown in the video.
